Visa-free entry for a limited initial stay
The situation most visitors are in. Nationals of a long list of countries are admitted without a visa for a set initial period as tourists, and that period can be extended in-country at a Bureau of Immigration office.
- Confirm the current day count on the Bureau of Immigration's site before you book — it has changed more than once and it differs by nationality.
- Your passport must be valid at least six months beyond your arrival date. Airlines enforce this at check-in even when immigration might not.
- You need a confirmed onward or return ticket out of the Philippines. Check-in staff ask for it routinely, and a one-way ticket is the most common reason travellers are refused boarding.
- Extensions are handled in person at a Bureau of Immigration office, for a fee, and the nearest one to this city is in Puerto Princesa itself — ask your hotel for the current address and hours before you go.
- Visa-free entry is for tourism. Any form of work, including remote work arrangements that involve a local entity, is a different category.
